Optic Studio

Video demo

Optic Studio first version was released in 1995. It is an imaging instrument for trying on new complete spectacles, frame and lenses together, before they are made, and also for trying on colored contact lenses prior to put them onto the eyes. The essence of the system is its ability to apply any existing lens options to each customer, and to do it absolutely authentically. The goal of the system is to simplify sales of high-end optical items, increase value of every order, and, not to the least, to win a word spread around by your satisfied customers about quality service you provide.

Thanks to the interface with a tv camera, the program is able to capture and acquire a series of images that show the face of the customer while he’s wearing the different frames or contact lenses. That gives him the possibility to review himself on the monitor and provides him precious elements to sustain his own choice.

OPTIC STUDIO OPERATING
  • Optic Studio includes video camera to take pictures, and a computer to process and show them.
  • At first, it captures still images of the patient wearing your new frames, and shows them on the screen, to simplify frame selection.
  • After a frame is chosen, the system finds the frame’s shape on the screen, and modifies the pictures, putting lenses into the frame and simulating the patient’s in complete spectacles.
  • Resulting pictures are as realistic as initial photographs. But you have complete control over lenses in the frame, and you can freely change any lens values, options and add-ins.
  • Future lenses are also scrutinized in 3D close-up views, thickness, weight and UV protection calculations, photocromics are shown in changing light conditions.
  • At the same time, Optic Studio measures PDs and heights and calculates blank sizes.
  • Similarly, the contact lens consultation includes capturing a patient’s picture, and further trying contacts on his picture on the screen.
  • The consultation goes under your full control, can be terminated and resumed at any point, ran fully or in part, and provides visual assistance at any stage of eyewear selection.

With all the progress in modern eyewear technology, there’s one thing which comes from the past : you can’t try spectacles on before making!
You can put on a frame, of course, but how can you get your lenses into it, just for trying?
As a professional, you can foresee the combined effect of the frame and lenses together, before the glasses are made. You know what would be the best combination.
The question is how to share this vision with your customers? The answer is natural:
Optic Studio visual consulting system.
WHAT CAN I DO WITH OPTIC STUDIO

Optic Studio has been designed and developed for the Microsoft Windows 95/98 operating system and is perfectly compatible with every “Windows designed” peripheral.
With Optic Studio you can finally manage:

1. The frame choice by means of the base image analysis (acquired by means of a tv camera).
  • Up to 8 pictures at a time capacity
  • Remote control of video camera direction;
  • One-mouse-click picture handling;
  • "Mirror" function;
  • Picture printing; you can personalize printouts with your logo and store info;
    After a frame has been chosen, the system modifies the pictures, putting prescription  lenses into the frame and simulating the patient's look in complete spectacles. The contours of the frame that cut lenses from the round blanks are found automatically by the system. For that, the system analyses the photograph, using sophisticated and fast (less than 1 second) image recognition techniques. Manual contour corrections with mouse ensures the highest accuracy.

    2. The lens choice on the base of:
  • The contour of the frame
  • Prescriptions (separate regulations for the left and right eye, interpupillare distance, sphere, cylinder, addition axes)
  • Materials (with preprogrammable buttons for the standard materials, possibility to modify the minimum permitted thickness for the border, center, neutral lenses)
  • Geometry (classical, spherical and aspheric, lenticular)
  • Shape, thickness, weight

    These screen examples demonstrate Optic Studio's unique power to present pros and contras of various lenses by simply showing all and any of them. It is not a pre-set animation. Optic Studio in real time predicts real, customer-specific lenses, cut to match the shape of any off-the-shelf frame.
  • Multifocal lenses (editable set of 14 types of progressives, bi- and trifocals; when in frame, segment height adjustable from 15 through 35 mm with 1 mm accuracy;).
  • Coatings (true color AR coatings; intensities, tints and names fully editable, UV protective and scratch resistance).
  • Lenses test (3D spinning lens show, selectable background and detail level; 3D simulated frames fitting the actual frame shape, shown around any given lenses for better lens shape presentation; 3D temples opening / closing; "spring balances" demonstration of lens weights (calculation accuracy 0,1 g); UV protection properties demonstration; demonstration of the photocromic lenses operation dependence on the heat and on the in-the-car usedynamic show of photocromic lenses in operation; 3D lenses spin to be seen from any side; the frames can close their temples

    3. The measurements:
  • PDs and heights of pupils in the frame, blank size diameter calculations
  • Automatic filming and semi-automated processing of multiple instant pictures of the customer wearing chosen frame, to produce averaged, statistically reliable data
  • Peripheral and central coordinates
  • Interactive lens decentration
  • Corrections and adjustments for accuracy and convenience
  • Centering of single vision, progressive and segmented mutlifocal lenses with adjustable channel/segment depths
  • Measured data printed in convenient forms, ready for use in the lab and for the fax transmitting

    4. Coloured contact lenses
  • Imaging (remote camera direction control, "mirror" function, one-click picture handling etc) plus simulation of colored contact lenses on the patient's eyes. Up to 4 pictures at a time capacity.
  • Opaque and transparent tints - editable library of samples split by suppliers and lens type;
  • Adjustable iris shapes; photographic realism and unique color matching tool for correct color presentation;
  • Image and lens data printing

    5. The slide show for a demonstrative goal

  • Specifications
